Thomas Phillips

My name is Tom Phillips, and I am pleased to introduce myself to you as your Labour candidate for Skelmersdale North.

I live in Ashurst with my fiancé and our dog. I work locally for the North West Ambulance Service, and some of you may recognise me from when I have attended emergencies here in our community. Before joining the NHS, I trained at West Lancashire College to be a joiner, and I volunteered locally as a school governor.

I’m a proud member of Unison, and because I care deeply about fairness, representation, and supporting the NHS, I’m also working towards my union representative qualifications. Away from work, I like to take the dog for a walk at the Beacon Country Park, where he loves to find every muddy puddle to jump in as he can.

Working as part of an emergency ambulance crew can have some very challenging moments, but it gives me an amazing opportunity to directly help others. Sadly, I get to see how difficult life can be for some in our community – issues around inadequate housing, unmet care needs, and vulnerable circumstances are frequent.

While it is certainly an amazing feeling to help save a life, I take great pride in helping address the social issues I come across every day, and improve my patient’s daily lives. I always fight for my patients, and I want to fight for you too. I’ll publish regular updates about what I’m doing for you, and I’ll always be available to chat.
