Melissa has lived in and around West Lancashire since her early teens, alternating between Ormskirk & Skelmersdale. Through her work as the Early Careers & Apprenticeship Advisor for a national retailer, Melissa became an Enterprise Advisor with The Career & Enterprise Company and supported Lathom High School’s careers fair in October 2022. She strongly believes young people across Skelmersdale have amazing ambition and potential and should be afforded the same opportunities as other areas. In her role as a Parent Governor of Moorside CP Academy, Melissa represents the concerns of parents at regular meetings, such as the need for affordable childcare costs, enhanced wraparound provision and subsidised school meals and uniform.

As the Community Liaison for West Lancashire CLP, Melissa organised demos to support the NHS and arranged celebrations for International Women’s Day by fundraising for a local women’s refuge. Since July 2022, she has undertaken the role of Women’s Officer for the CLP, discussing issues that affect women across West Lancashire, such as the WASPI campaign and supporting local women-led businesses, like The Sewing Rooms.

Melissa is a keen community activist, volunteering as a Volunteer Co-ordinator for the Trussell Trust Foodbank, and a founding member of the local Fans Supporting Foodbanks team, attending Skelmersdale United home games since March 2022 and collecting over 466kg of donations for Skelmersdale & District foodbank.
